They’re truly aiding to foster the growth of our WordPress community in Baltimore by providing a centrally located venue for our WordCamp. Details on their location and directions are below:

Here’s general information on the parking:

Parking lots and pay spaces on Light Street and Key Highway are within walking distance of the Science Center. Metered spaces along Light Street and Key Highway are also available.

We encourage you to use one of the recommended surface lots for parking during your stay. On-street parking is limited, and fines are increased in this area due to residential parking permits and frequent special events in the area. Vehicles in violation of local parking restrictions are subject to fines and/or towing.

Lodging

We’re working on finding group rates for a hotel but here’s a Google Map of nearby accommodations:

There is a Yankees versus Orioles game Friday, Sept 7 – so group rates were hard to come by this year. Here are some specifics for recommended hotels near the venue:

  1. For those coming from out of town, there’s also a hostel that’s a 10 minute bus ride north of the science center that’s less than $25 a night. http://hiusa.org/baltimore

  2. By the way, does anyone know of a good place to get Crabs and Beer in the Inner Harbor area? It’d be great to get some attendees together on Friday night before WordCamp. I’m originally from the Baltimore area, and I’d love to show out-of-towners how to pick crabs. (Of course, locals would be welcome, too. :P)

  3. Phillips is on the harbor, near Hard Rock (eastern side of harbor). There’s also a good spot called Riptide on the Bay in Fell’s Point (Thames St). There’s probably a few other spots, but I’m not 100%. I’d recommend Riptide if you’re up for the walk or cab ride. Only about a mile from the harbor.
